I have been asked for many years about the difference in the O.E.M. copier toner and generic copier toner. It  has been my experience that there is a need for both types. If your goal is to simply make copies for your personal needs then generic toner may work for you. If you need the best image quality and yield, you will want to use the O.E.M. type.

Most manufacturers will insist that the O.E.M. is the only thing you should use and that generic toner will cause damage to your machine. No matter what type of toner you use, I have never seen physical damage to a copier from toner however, I have seen both types leak out into the body of the copier without doing any damage.
